Last Saturday, the School should have been echoing with footsteps of old for our annual reunion of past pupils and staff. There has been a reunion at School, during peacetime, since 1926, so it was with disappointment we moved this to a virtual event.

Girls Celebrate Fantastic A level Results

2020 has been a tumultuous year, challenging, uncertain and ever-changing. In the midst of this, Farnborough Hill girls have triumphed once more; they have been rewarded with outstanding results, with the School’s outgoing Head Girl becoming the third in a row to secure a coveted Oxbridge place.

Returning to the Hill

After what felt like an eternity, I was delighted to be able to return to school this June. My sister and I often refer to ‘the Hill’ as a second home to us, as it has been a place of community and happiness for the past six years of my life.

Junior Leadership Team: Meet the Team

This year, like with everything else, we had to move our Junior Leadership Team elections to a virtual platform, from recording hustings videos to interviews via Teams. We are delighted with how all the applicants handled this shift in processes; it was a hugely competitive field but we are thrilled to introduce the stellar new team: Eva (Head Girl), Emilia (Deputy Head Girl), Libby (Deputy Head Girl), Caitlin, Charlotte, Danni, Ellie and Emily. Each JLT member has written a short paragraph to introduce themselves.

Sixth Form on the Hill Tutoring

Ten students from the sixth form on the hill are providing a free online tutoring service for girls in Years 10 to 12 who may be struggling with aspects of GCSE and A level learning at home during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Retreat Week 2020

Last week Years 7 - 11 had a day off timetable and on retreat – an annual event at Farnborough Hill, which gives the girls time to reflect and bond. Each day had a unique set of activities including team-building, talks, reflection and prayer.

U14 Netball Team Qualify for National Finals

On Saturday 25 January, the U14 netball team competed in the Regional Netball Tournament at Wavell School. Fourteen teams had qualified in this age group by either winning or coming second at their county tournament, so the competition was going to be strong.

EPQ Excellence

Students in Year 13 have been celebrating in the past week after receiving their results for the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) Level 3.

Oxbridge Offers

We are thrilled that three of our Upper Sixth students have secured offers to further their education at Oxford or Cambridge.

Tabitha, Head Girl, earned an offer to study History at Worcester College, Oxford, making her the third Head Girl in a row to be offered an exclusive Oxbridge place. Isobel attained an offer from Brasenose College, Oxford to read French and Italian, and Jennifer has secured an offer from St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, to study Veterinary Medicine.

Barbados Sports Tour

Very early on Wednesday 11 December 2019, 23 Year 10 and 11 hockey and netball players and accompanying staff departed for nine days of sport, culture and sunshine in Barbados.

On the first Sunday of Advent the School opened its doors for a trio of gloriously Christmassy events – the House Charity Bazaar, Friends’ Christmas Market and Advent Carol Service.

Community Feast Day 2019

The Order of Christian Education was founded in Normandy, France on 21 November 1817. As a school, we celebrate this special event on or around 21 November and it is known as our Community Feast Day. 

Prize Giving 2019

Senior Prize Giving is one of the major events of the Farnborough Hill annual calendar and this year's ceremony, which took place on Friday 8 November 2019, was no exception.  Read more about the evening together with photos and the Head's report.

Over half term, 19 girls and staff enjoyed a fun-filled, action-packed trip to the 'Big Apple' to explore its Art and Culture.

On an appropriately crisp and dark night, over 700 people scaled the hill to enjoy the first Friends’ Firework Fiesta in many years.  

Our Farnborough Hill community came together last Friday morning for our annual Harvest Festival. 

Earlier this month we were very excited to welcome almost 90 Year 6 pupils for a Young Leaders’ Day. 

Year 7 pupils enjoyed their first residential trip together at the end of last week. They were warmly welcomed on arrival by a thoroughly enthusiastic bunch of PGL instructors, who geared the girls up for their exciting two-day adventure.

Our U15A and B teams took part in the Schools District Netball Tournament at Wavell School on Wednesday 9 October 2019.  Both teams did very well but particular congratulations to the U15A team who were unbeaten winners.  

On Saturday 21 September we hosted the annual Farnborough Hill Old Girls' Reunion.  We were delighted to welcome 150 Old Girls and their families who joined members of the Community and former staff for a joyous afternoon revisiting their old school and catching up with friends.

A group of 35 tenacious and extremely hard-working pupils returned to school this week to learn of the outstanding grades they earned in their Level One Project Qualification, taken in Year 9; 20 girls earned an A*, nine an A and six achieved B grades.

Pupils at Farnborough Hill were celebrating this morning as they received their excellent GCSE results. The School is delighted that 56% of all the results were at the top grades of 9 – 7, with an excellent pass rate of 98%.

Students at Farnborough Hill were delighted to achieve outstanding results across the board as they received their A level results today, with two thirds of the year group earning an A*, A or B in all their subjects. The School was particularly delighted to see that 67% of the top grades were in subjects such as Mathematics, History, the Classics and the Sciences, as preferred by Russell Group universities.

The School celebrated the many achievements of girls in Years 7 - 9 at our annual Junior Prize Giving afternoon on Wednesday 2 July 2019.  Congratulations to all the girls who received medals, certificates and trophies.

Representatives from this year's CAFOD Young Leaders team attended a day of celebration and thanks at CAFOD Headquarters this week.

Year 7 took a three-day break from their normal timetable to enjoy a Music Theatre workshop, during which they worked together to create a production of Bugsy Malone entirely from scratch.

With the sun shining, the field awash with brightly coloured t-shirts and a buzz of excitement in the air, inter-house sports afternoon got underway.

This year, once again, the Sixth Form students were delighted to host Year 5 pupils at Busy Bees taster days.

Catholic theologian David Wells travels the world delivering inspirational talks; he aims to share ‘accessible theology for the busy, burnt-out and bewildered’ and has written several best-selling books on the subject of faith. He spoke to Farnborough Hill teachers in June.

A fascinating trip to neighbouring Farnborough Abbey enabled Year 8 to learn about the connections it has with the School, the daily life of the monks, the Abbey Church and the Crypt.  Mr Ralph Wellington reports...

After a lot of hard work and preparation, A level and GCSE examinations began in earnest on Monday 13 May 2019.  The week leading up to this had a celebratory feel as the girls completed their courses and for some, attended their last formal lessons at Farnborough Hill.

We were delighted to welcome parents, friends and families into school on Saturday 11 May 2019 for our annual Open Morning.   This is a fantastic opportunity to give an insight into what goes on in the School every working day.  

Evensong at St Paul's

On Monday 29 April 2019 the Farnborough Hill Senior Choir sang Choral Evensong in the magnificent and awe-inspiring surroundings of St Paul's Cathedral in the heart of London.

The Colosseum in Rome, Pompeii and Herculaneum and Mount Vesuvius were some of the sights experienced by Year 7, 8 and 9 Classicists when they visited Italy during the Easter Holiday.  Isabella reports ....

Our pupils and staff enjoyed a fabulous trip to Iceland over the Easter holidays where they were able to experience some of the many natural geographical wonders of this amazing country.

The annual Gym and Dance Display, where girls from across the year groups showcase their gravity-defying and dizziness-inducing displays of sporting prowess, was held on Tuesday evening.

On a sunny Saturday morning, as part of their charity week, members of the Sixth Form threw open the doors to the Old House to share the history of their beautiful school building with eager visitors.

Easter Concert

Our Easter Concert took place on Tuesday 19 March 2019 in the magnificent setting of the School Chapel and a large audience gathered to enjoy a rich and varied programme of music-making organised by the Music Department.

Audiences were enthralled and delighted by the Upper School production of Jessica Swale’s Blue Stockings, which took place on 6-8 March 2019.  This thought-provoking and clever play told the story of the first women at Girton College, Cambridge, and their fight to have their education recognised in the same way as their male counterparts. 

This year's House Talent Show was, once again, a riot of laughter, music and dance. Head of Becket, Mr Quinnell, reports.

Last week, pupils studying Latin and Classics in Year 9 were fortunate to have the opportunity to visit the site of Aquae Sulis in the city of Bath.

A team of Sixth Form Economists have battled their way into the Student Investor Challenge semi-finals, beating over 5,000 teams from schools around the UK and abroad.

We had some very special visitors last week - the team from Hillsong who led our Retreat Week. It was a joy to welcome them back with a variety of teams of energetic and passionate young people full of inspiring and fun ideas for our girls.

Last week 72 young actors faced the challenge of undertaking their Trinity Drama exams in front of two professional examiners.

Christmas is a big deal at Farnborough Hill. Massive, in fact, with jumpers, lunches and decorations galore. Yet, we always felt something was missing so, this September, the idea of a pantomime was suggested. Bravely, a small team from the Lower Sixth set about producing the first Farnborough Hill Pantomime in approximately 20 years. 

Farnborough Hill is delighted to release a new look from January 2019.  Following a process of reflection and consideration, the decision was taken by governors, Sisters and the senior leadership team to undertake a brand revitalisation to better reflect the ethos and purpose of the school, to create a clear, positive image and a distinctive, memorable identity. 

A Christmas Celebration

The annual, and ever-popular, Christmas Celebration took place on Friday 8 December 2018 and a packed Hall resounded to the festive sounds of the full range of the School's ensembles. 

Advent Carol Service

On Sunday 2 December 2018 we hosted our annual candlelit Advent Carol Service. The service was as beautiful as ever including readings, prayers, music from the choir and congregational carols.  It prepared us spiritually for the season ahead with the lighting of our Advent wreath and a selection of seasonal pieces, reminding us of the true meaning of Christmas. 

The Farnborough Hill Christmas Bazaar is an event that both staff and girls always look forward to, and is a great start to the festive season. This year’s Bazaar was a hugely enjoyable event, with family and friends enjoying a wide variety of stalls, read on ....

The School has been showcasing musical maestros and actors extraordinaire over the previous week, with the Musical Soirée and GCSE Drama Performances both taking place.

Sixth Form students have produced a special edition of the weekly newsletter for an insight into life at Farnborough Hill 100 years ago, to mark the centenery of the end of World War 1. 

We were delighted to welcome John Suchet as our Guest of Honour for this year's Prize Giving which took place on Friday 9 November 2018 in the School Chapel.

After a busy start to the year and a focus on  settling in, the Year 7 Residential was the perfect way for them to end their first half-term at Farnborough Hill.

Year 10 GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition students visited Tuppenny Barn, an organic small holding in Southbourne. Tuppenny Barn are passionate about the environment and provide learning experiences in growing, sustainability, healthy eating and biodiversity.

The halls are once again alive with music: F’Hill Radio has been revived! Back with brilliant Year 11 DJs, exclusive peeks into the underworld of the school and weekly quizzes and request shows, the girls have big broadcasting plans.

Last week, lunchtimes in the Science Department were packed with activities to celebrate the Royal Society of Biology’s Biology week.

Farnborough Hill students Sophie Farrelly and Sophie Fowles have each secured a highly-competitive Army Scholarship to see them through university and into Sandhurst to pursue their careers, Sophie Fowles as a Logistics Officer and Sophie Farrelly an Army Doctor.

European Day of Languages was on Wednesday 26 September, so this week the School celebrated with a treasure-hunt-style languages quiz.

Once again, we had a great turn-out of Old Girls and their families, together with former and current staff, for the Reunion on Saturday 15 September. 40- and 20-year anniversary old girls were particularly celebrating and some had even travelled from Australia, Hong Kong and Italy to be with us. 

The Year 8 spent a fantastic day at Horseshoe Lake, working in teams to complete challenges and foster a sense of happy competition. Year 8 pupil Ronnie summarised the day.

Our intrepid Sixth Form girls working towards the Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award completed their assessed expedition in the Lake District in August. 

The summer of 2018 brought an incredible charitable adventure for 21 girls from Farnborough Hill when they travelled to Borneo to help with two fantastic projects: the planting of trees to revive a forest and the extending and modernisation of a school.

The return to school brought great news for 27 of the Year 10s, who achieved outstanding results in their Extended Projects which they completed before the summer break. Ten girls earned an A*, 15 an A and two achieved B grades.

Pupils at Farnborough Hill were elated this morning as they opened their outstanding GCSE results: 61% of grades were 9 - 7, with 82% 9 - 6. An astonishing 68% girls achieved a 9, 8 or 7 in a least half of their subjects.

Farnborough Hill student Rosie has achieved A*AA grades in her A levels, securing a place at one of the most prestigious institutions in the country. Rosie will be completing a foundation year in art at Central St Martin’s, which admits fewer than 7% of applicants – making it more competitive than Oxbridge.

Following an intensive online questionnaire, a subsequent test and a gruelling interview where she was quizzed on her skills and interest in cyber security, Farnborough Hill student Alice has secured sponsorship from a top secret government agency for her university place, and the promise of employment post degree.

The Year 7 and 8 pupils put on a fantastic, lively performance of Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo at the end of the Summer Term.

On Tuesday, Year 10 GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition students travelled to Tante Marie Culinary Academy in Woking for a chocoholics dream.

Friday 22 June saw a celebration of sport and participation at our Inter-House Sports afternoon in our fabulous School grounds followed by a stunning exhibition of Art and Design showcasing GCSE and A level students' work.

We were delighted to open St Raphael’s yesterday afternoon, a well-being centre at the heart of the School encompassing the Rennie Surgery, St Luke’s mindfulness space, St Catherine’s (Learning Support) and the School Counsellor’s room.

Year 9s Alex, Lanie and Tia have won a place each on a Girls into Engineering Residential Course at Warwick University, sponsored by Girls Get Set and the Smallpeice Trust.  

Mr Rudi Oppenheimer, a Holocaust survivor, delivered a testimony to the whole School on 18 June 2018.  The visit was the initiative of two sixth formers, Sophie and Thalia, following a visit to Auschwitz as part of the 'Lessons from Auschwitz' project.

Sixth Form ‘Bee Keepers’ were buzzing with excitement to welcome Year 5 Busy Bees to taster days at Farnborough Hill.

Year 10 girls spent two days sampling the bespoke offerings of the Sixth Form on the Hill. Academics, the social aspect and all-important enrichment were covered in the taster days which allowed each girl to choose a programme which best suited her interests and aspirations.

 

Congratulations to the Year 10 Young Enterprise company, Purrrfect Pawpost,  who won 'Best Stand' at the YE Regional Finals at Guildford Cathedral.

Our Upper Sixth students said farewell to the school during the week before half term before embarking on study leave and the start of A level examinations.  Their last week was very busy and enjoyable.  Read more here.

On Friday 18 May 2018 we had our annual House MasterChef Competition with over 30 girls taking part. The girls demonstrated excellent team work and the judges were very impressed with the level of skill and creativity shown in their dishes. 

Our Year 10 Drama GCSE  groups provided audiences on Thursday 24 May 2018 with some powerful extracts from Kinderstransport by Diane Samuels.  The girls performed their roles to an outstanding level. 

On Friday 27 April we saw the culmination of a large amount of hard work as Farnborough Hill pupils welcomed all of the boys and girls of St Bernadette’s Year 5 to record their Hymn to St Teresa. 

At Assembly on Monday 14 May 2018, the PE Department gave a summary of the year to date presenting certificates and medals to our many talented sportswomen.  Read more details here.

Congratulations to our Year 9 and 10 girls who spent the bank holiday weekend (5/6 May 2018) doing their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award practice (Year 9) or assessed (Year 10) expeditions in the New Forest.  

The annual Gym and Dance Display took place just before the Easter holidays on the 27 March 2018. It was a fabulous display of Farnborough Hill gymnastic and dance talent. 

Congratulations to our Year 10 Young Enterprise company, Purrfect Paw Post, who scooped 'Best Company' and 'Best Trade Stand' at the YE County Final on Wednesday 25 April 2018.  They are now through to the penultimate round before the National Final.

Our senior Classicists enjoyed a fascinating trip to Greece over the Easter holidays with the opportunity to see some amazing ancient sites.  Read more here.

On Friday night, a packed audience enjoyed a feast of entertainment provided by the full range of Farnborough Hill's choral, orchestral and instrumental ensembles.  Our Night at the Musicals featured music from all of the great Broadway and West End shows.

On the evening of Tuesday 13 March 2018 the school was buzzing with enthusiasm and interest when we hosted our biennial Careers Fair for Years 9 and above. We welcomed thirty-seven professionals into school representing a wide range of careers.

The eagerly-anticipated More House Fashion Show took place on Friday 16 March 2018. This exciting event entails each House working together to create an outfit for their model (one of our staff members), using only recycled materials.

Our sensational all-singing, all-dancing musical production, Anything Goes, performed to packed houses on 7-9 March 2018.  The school hall was transformed into a theatre and the stage into a ship complete with portholes, cabin rooms, bunk beds, a nightclub and a brig.  

We celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 9 March 2018, a week late following the snow days of the previous week. It is clear that Farnborough Hill girls (and staff) love to dress up and the school was full of fantasy fiction characters.

Due to continuing adverse weather conditions, Farnborough Hill will not be open on Friday 2 March.  Work and resources for pupils can be found on Firefly.  Pupils should only complete work set for lessons missed on Friday.

The Box Office is now open for this year's school production: 'Anything Goes' by Cole Porter.  The performances take place from 7 - 9 March and the talented cast and crew have been busy rehearsing this wonderful show.  

Farnborough Hill Library was very excited to be kicking off its World Book Day celebrations this year with a visit from author Jo Cotterill on Thursday 22 February 2018.  

Girls from Years 8-10 had a fantastic week over half term skiing in the Italian Alps with everyone making excellent progress and all groups ascending the beautiful Presena Glacier. 

A group of 50 singers, comprising girls, staff and guests visited the majestic Salisbury Cathedral to sing Choral Evensong on Wednesday 7 February 2018.

On Friday, 9 February 2018, everyone gathered in the Hall to watch the eagerly anticipated ‘Farnborough Hill’s Got Talent’. Organised by Becket and Fisher Houses, this year’s annual talent show included something a bit different – a ‘lip synch’ challenge. 

Congratulations to our Art Department who submitted a beautiful piece of group artwork to the Global Canvas Children's Art Competition 2018 and have reached the final which will be held at the Natural History Museum on 15 March 2018.

We were very privileged to welcome a team of youth leaders from the Hillsong church in Guildford who led our annual Retreat for Years 7 - 11 last week. Each year group had a day off-timetable to spend 'on retreat' with the theme 'Be who God called you to be and you will set the world on fire'.

We were delighted to hear this week that one of our pupils has won first prize in the Knights of St Columba national prayer competition.  

Three of our students were awarded Exhibition Awards by Trinity College London for achieving the highest score in the UK for Grade 6 Trinity Drama Exams taken in May 2017.

Just before the end of the Christmas term, 32 excited sportswomen from Years 10 and 11 together with 4 members of staff, set off on tour to the Caribbean island of Barbados.  

On Friday 8 December 2017, a packed audience in the Hall was treated to a varied and entertaining programme of music for Christmas, featuring all of the school’s many choral and instrumental ensembles.

Our Carol Service, marking the first Sunday of Advent, took place in the School Chapel on 3 December, immediately after the Christmas Bazaar.  Incorporating carols, music, readings and prayers, it was a very special occasion.

Our annual Christmas Bazaar was held on Sunday 3 December 2017 and was a wonderful event.  A wide range of stalls, refreshments and entertainment made for a very festive afternoon whilst raising funds for House charities.

With the news of a royal wedding making Windsor Castle the place to be, it was particularly exciting for Senior Choir to sing Choral Evensong at St George’ s Chapel, within the grounds of the Castle, on Wednesday 29 November 2017.

It is an exciting time in the Sixth Form application process with the Sixth Form Academic Scholarship Examination taking place this week. To this end, we are delighted to formally release the Sixth Form version of our School Video.

On Friday 17 November 2017 there were big celebrations at Farnborough Hill as we looked back over 200 years of education of girls by the religious order which founded our school - the Religious of Christian Education.

Our annual Prize Giving took place on Friday 10 November 2017.  It is always a significant event which celebrates personal and school achievements in a whole host of arenas, academic, sporting, musical and dramatic as well as unique successes that enrich the lives of all involved.

On Monday 12 November 2017 the whole school gathered in our beautiful Chapel for an Assembly and Act of Remembrance.  This was a very moving event which included poems, prayer, music and reflection.

Each of our Year 7 classes are getting the chance to visit a local engineering company, GE (General Electric) Oil and Gas, to see how knowledge of STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) can be put into practice in the world of work.

The half term ended on a high as the whole school took part in one of the most anticipated events in the school calendar: the Inter-House Quiz. 18 teams from each House pitted their wits against one another and enjoyed a highly entertaining afternoon.

It has been a busy start to the year in PE. Netball and Hockey trials dominated the first couple of weeks and now that squads have been selected, competitive sport is well underway.  Cross Country and Swimming also featured in this first half term.

Our talented musical students had a busy October with two special concerts for which all the girls practised hard.  The Senior Choir performed for the annual Phyllis Tuckwell Fundraising Concert and the Musical Soirée showcased our many and varied ensembles.  Read more ...

Following the recent harvest of apples from our own orchard, thanks to the help of girls in Years 7 and 8, 1500 bottles of apple juice have been produced and are now on sale at £2.50 per bottle.  'Apple Heaven' was deemed delicious at a recent tasting by staff and pupils.

Representatives of the Knights of St Columba were in Assembly on Monday 2 October 2017 to present awards to winners and runners up of their Prayer and Painting competitions.  We had winners at local, provincial and national level.

The whole school met together in the Chapel on Thursday 28 September 2017 for our first Mass of the academic year. The Mass of the Holy Spirit is always a thoughtful experience and sets the school community on the right path spiritually for the year ahead.

Old Girls from as early as 1940 and as far away as Australia gathered with their families on Saturday 16 September 2017 to celebrate the bicentenary of the foundation of the Religious Of Christian Education with six of their members. 

We were excited to release a new promotional film on Monday 11 September 2017, entitled 'There is a Badge' produced over the last year that looks to tell the story of daily life beyond exam results.

Many congratulations to 7 Year 13 girls who completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award assessed expedition at the end of the Summer holidays.  Read all about their adventures in Freya's report:

Smiles, joy and congratulations were the order of the day as girls received their GCSE results on Thursday 24 August 2017.  Taking government changes in their stride, they kept their focus to achieve an impressive 86% A* - B, with 59% of all results graded at A*/A. 

There was great joy and excitement on Thursday 17 August 2017 as delighted girls opened their A level results envelopes.  Nearly half of all the results were at A* or A grades, with a superb 90% at the covetable A*-C which secures places at the top universities.

At the end of a busy term, 26 members of Senior Choir, along with four staff, headed for Prague, the historic and musically vibrant capital of the Czech Republic. As well as singing for Mass at the majestic St Vitus Cathedral, the choir gave three further performances ...

Pride was the prevailing emotion at Farnborough Hill on Monday 3 July 2017 as three students were announced winners of the National Final in the 2017 Rotary Youth Speaks competition. 

Since the GCSEs finished, many of our Year 11 students have been encouraged to do a week's work experience.  Here Emily (11 Omega) describes her excellent placement with the Rural Life Centre in Tilford near Farnham.

On Friday 30 June we saw a sea of people, all dressed in bright yellow, complete a 3k run through our beautiful grounds. The run was organised by members of the Lower Sixth in aid of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance Service. 

Our students' artistic and design talent was showcased on Friday 23 June 2017 with an exhibition of Art, Photography and Design and Technology GCSE and A level work.

A combination of perfect weather, brilliant organisation and sporting enthusiasm meant that our Inter-House Sports Afternoon was a triumph.  

It was wonderful to see the happy faces of nearly 140 Year 5 pupils who visited us today to take part in Busy Bees.

Girls were challenged to look carefully at the political parties' policies during a highly informative General Election Taster session as part of our Think Tank series of talks and run by Government & Politics teacher, Mr Gillingham.

Open Morning, on Saturday 13 May 2017, was one of the highlights of the year.  Family and friends of students in Years 7 - 9 had an insight into the students' experience of school attending open lessons, rehearsals, demonstrations and displays.

Over the Easter holidays, a group of students and teachers had a fascinating time exploring Berlin and seeing some of the iconic historical locations of the 20th century.  Jennifer (12BRT) reports on this busy and interesting trip.

During the Easter holidays 43 students and 5 staff were lucky enough to experience the wonders and diversity of China, a country rich in culture, history and amazing geographical features. 

The Easter term ended on Friday 31 March 2017 with a beautiful Easter Service attended by the whole school in Chapel. The service narrated the story of Jesus through the eyes of Mary. With dramatic depictions of the story, prayer and song, the service was a powerful experience for all involved.

At the end of the Easter Term we were treated to a spectacular evening of gymnastics demonstrations, floor routines, modern, tap, ballroom and contemporary dance and more at last the annual Gym and Dance Display, hosted by the PE Department. 

Mindful of news from famine-stricken countries like Sudan and Somalia, it is timely that our team of CAFOD Youth Leaders have been busy organising ways to fund-raise for CAFOD.  These were presented in Assembly last week ...

Our magnificent Chapel was the perfect setting for our Easter Concert on Wednesday 22 March 2017. In the first half, some of the school's many ensembles were showcased and in the second half we performed the Fauré Requiem.

For the third year running we have a team of Year 12 students who are taking part in the CAFOD Youth Leadership Training Programme. This year's team have been particularly enthusiastic and have made a magnificent effort for Lent, raising over £1712 for CAFOD.

On Tuesday 14 March 2017, the Maths Department celebrated Pi Day by hosting an exciting range of code cracking competitive activities for Years 7, 8 and 10.

On Friday 17 March 2017, we held the More House Fashion Show. This year's theme was "Under the Sea" and the teams had 30 minutes to design and make their own costumes made only with recycled materials, and this year's event saw some fantastic creations!

On Thursday 9th March, Gabi Cox, the founder of Chroma Stationery, came in to school to give a Think Tank talk to a range of girls from all year groups. She spoke about how she set up Chroma, what it's like being your own boss ... 

The annual school production,  Pride & Prejudice, took place in the Theatre on the Hill to capacity audiences on Wednesday 8 to Friday 10 March 2017.  Beautifully acted and full of period detail, the performances were excellent.

The ski trip to Holzgau in Austria during half term was a great success. 46 girls from Years 8 to 12 enjoyed a week of skiing with some great snow and beautiful weather (most of the time).

On Saturday 4 March 2017 students in Year 10 working for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award went out on a training walk in preparation for theexpedition which will be assessed later in the year to go towards their award ...

Students enjoyed a 'mufti' day to celebrate World Book Day this week with many students proving to be very imaginative and resourceful dressing up as characters from Roald Dahl's brilliant books for children.

Our 3 Farnborough Hill Year 10 companies took part in a Young Enterprise Trade Fair on Saturday 11 February 2017 in Princes Mead Shopping Centre, Farnborough.  They did very well, winning all the main prizes!

The Senior Choir were thrilled recently to get the opportunity to sing in the truly magnificent Salisbury Cathedral. They were the visiting choir providing the music for Evensong on Tuesday 14 February 2017. 

This half term ended on an exuberant note with the 4th annual 'Farnborough Hill's Got Talent' inter-house competition.  The girls worked hard to put on a great show and the enthusiastic audience loved it!

The whole school joined together on Monday 13 February 2017 for a Memorial Service to remember and give thanks for the life of Lucy Pygott, pupil at the school from 2013 to 2016.  This followed a tree planting in the grounds.  Read more ...

Members of Junior Choir and Rock Choir performed as part of the Senior Schools Music evening at the Church of Our Lady in Fleet last Thursday. The girls sang 5 songs, featuring vocal solos by Lucy (8W), Georgia and Laura (both 8A), and Josephine (9B), as well instrumental accompaniments by Hannah (oboe, 7B) and Natasha (drums, 10W).
