House Charities
Campion House supports the Kairos Community Trust, a charity in Peckham which helps homeless people recover from alcoholism and drug addiction. We also give a smaller amount of money to a second charity on a first come first serve basis, where the girls are able to choose a cause close to their hearts. For 2009-2010 we supported the Eve Appeal, which raises money to help treat gynaelogical cancer, a charity close to one of our Year 11's hearts, as a family friend was affected by this.

This year, 2010-2011, after lots of excellent suggestions for our second charity and encouraging talks from members of all years, we voted on seven charities and 'Help the Heroes' won. Well done to Bella Fowler, in 9alpha, who promoted this moving cause so ably.
House Events
Christmas Bazaar - Christmas Term
This event is coordinated by Campion House but all the other houses take part and proceeds go to all the house charities. This year our creative caretaker thought of the excellent idea of putting up the gazebos from last year's Interhouse Sports Day, for a really Eastern feel. We also moved most of the cafe seating up onto the stage to create mroe space in the Hall and moved stalls into the centre to leave seating round the outisde as well. Mrs Cartledge plus Mrs Hatton and her Year 10s helped to stunningly decorate the pillars with satin-butterfly clad ivy and red ribbons and multilayered red, silver and green stars. Thanks must also go to the Year 8s who blew up all the balloons and the Year 7s who transported all of Campion's bottles from the library. We had great Campion girls and staff manning all our stalls too. Special thanks must go to the following who did double or even triple shifts: Mr Budge and son, Lucy Sorrell, Scarlett Walsh, Sister Mannion, Sister Rennie, Mrs Wood, Mrs Glover, Nicole Golding, Fran Pipkin, Sophie Voase, Anna McManus, Mrs Nix and a special thank you to Ellen McLoughlin for standing in for someone. A huge thank you to our House Captains too: Hannah Sorrel and Lakshmi Woodings who had the uneviable task of collecting volunteers to man the stalls, sticking raffle tickets on the bottles, setting up and serving at the cafe and helping with the big clear-up. I could not have done it without you!
Becket House Treasure Hunt
One Thursday lunchtime early in the year, Year 10 'aunties' and their Year 7 'nieces' went zooming round the school trying to decipher Mrs Chapman's cryptic clues leading to an anagram of that day's date! Very tricky, Becket Captains!! Well done to all the blue teams who hurtled along, although we were sadly pipped to the post by Howard and Fisher teams. Never mind - those blue T-shirts (and in some cases tights!) looked great!
Fisher House Quiz
Well done, Campionites! We came second- a very creditable performance :) Thanks must go to our sparky teams for each round: the 'Guess the Teacher' round- Annie Coloe (Yr 7), Hannah Phillips (Yr 8), Georgia Moore-Hemsley (Yr 9), Charlie Came (Yr 10); the 'Subject' round- Leigh Beale (Yr 7), Sophie Voase (Yr 8), Ciara Norris (Yr 9) and Sarah Whatnall (Yr 10); and the 'General Knowledge' round- Hannah Archer (Yr 7), Tanzim Thaphader (Yr 8), Verity Thaphader (Yr 9) and Scarlett Walsh (Yr 10). Neville, our Blue Dragon, was also up there on the team table willing the girls on. Thanks also to our very supportive Yr 11s for cheering the teams on and to our cheery House Captains, Sophie and Hannah, for ably leading the actions in the famous 'Our House' song!
Howard House Dance Competition
What a high standard and wow-factor this year's competition had! Anna McManus 11alpha, Chloe Barrett 10B, Anais Dibben 8alpha, Natasha Trethewey 7A and Anna Martinovic 7A performed an excellent street dance-ballet mix to a very catchy beat. It was so catchy, in fact, that Miss Clarke, Mrs Nix and even Neville, the blue dragon mascot, joined in at the end! After stiff competition we were awarded third place. Personally, Neville believes we were robbed, but there you go!
Inter-House Sports Day
Everyone was involved last year, with maximum spectator sports, including lots of new track and field events, an exciting final relay and a tug of war between the staff and the Sixth Form! New House T-shirts in House colours also looked great. Congratulations to our fab high jumpers and Hannah Williams' excellent shotput. Start limbering up for this June now, girls...
