Classical Civilisation - A level

We follow the AQA specification for Classical Civilisation at A-Level. 

Sixth Form Classicists in the Colosseum

This year, our AS candidates will study the following units from the AQA specification:
  1. Homer, Odyssey
    A study of Homer's Odyssey in its entirety.
  2. Greek Architecture and Sculpture
    A critical study of significant aspects of the development of Greek public buildings in the sixth, fifth and fourth centuries BC, and the development of free-standing and architectural sculpture in the same period.

From September 2009, our current AS Classical Civilisation candidates will continue with the AQA specification to study the following A2 units:

  1. Greek Tragedy
    Euripides, Hippolytus and Medea and Sophocles, Oedipus Rex and Antigone.
  2. Roman Epic
    A detailed study of Virgil's Aeneid in its historical and cultural context.
