For examination we study:
  1. Epic and Myth: Homer, The Odyssey  Books 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 12: the exciting adventures of Odysseus on his way home from the Trojan War.
  2. City and Empire: Rome  The focus of this topic is the everyday life of an ancient Roman citizen in one of the most flourishing city states in ancient times.
  3. Community life in the Ancient World: Pompeii   What was daily life like in this ancient city? A study of the historical and archaeological evidence including an eye-witness account of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
What is the Controlled Assessment?
The Controlled Assessment is a taught ‘coursework’ topic that is written up in school time under controlled conditions. We have chosen to write about Sophocles' tragedy, Antigone.
