2010: The Wizard of Oz

Wizard of Oz Poster

The story of Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz is well known but what was new and spectacular in 2010's whole school production was the storybook design concept, which brought to life Dorothy’s lively imagination as she dreamt her adventures in Oz.  A giant book unfolded and the different locations and settings were revealed, moving from a dull black, white and blue Kansas to an exciting, vibrant and fluorescent Oz. A cast of thousands and spectacular costumes added to another signature show from the Farnborough Hill thespians!

2009: Epsom Downs and The Witches

Epsom Downs Poster

The Witches PosterMarch 2009's whole school production took the form of a double bill and consisted of 'The Witches' performed in the School Hall, and 'Epsom Downs', presented in our new studio space - Drama 1.

This was an exciting and challenging run of performances with two venues, two casts and two totally separate shows.

2008: Performance Arts Festival 'America'

This year we had a departure from the traditional school production format and hosted a Performance Arts Festival. The festival offered a number of shows with a varied and exciting schedule under the theme of 'America'.

'Bugsy Malone', the children's gangster spoof by Alan Parker, was presented by the junior school. This comic musical was a lot of fun and rather messy!

'A Brief and Incomplete Trot through American History' by Davina Robinson provided the unique experience of a highly entertaining, comic and almost historically correct musical play as well as a tasty meal of fajitas and apple pie prepared by our fabulous school chef to be served after the performance.

Finally, all our Year 8 and Year 9 students, along with some of our senior girls, had the opportunity to take part in dance workshops run by Simon Selmon of the London Swing Dance Society. This was followed by a twilight demonstration performance of dance entitled 'A Journey through Jazz' performed by the Sugarfoot Stompers along with presentations of dance learned by our senior girls.
