GCSE English

For GCSE we follow the AQA specifications for both English Language and English Literature.  All girls are entered for both qualifications.  Copies of the relevant specifications can be found on the links below: 

 

GCSE EnglishIn year 10, girls complete almost all the Controlled Assessments in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, leaving year 11 for examination preparation.

In 2011, 95.3% of entries for English Language were awarded A*/A grades.

 


For AS/A Level we follow the OCR specification for English Literature. A copy of the specification can be downloaded by clicking on the following link:

During the course girls will study poetry, prose and drama, including the study of Shakespeare.  Production of coursework folders in both years allows students a certain freedom of choice of texts and tasks.

In 2011, 92.3% of entries were awarded A*-B grades, with over 30% of the cohort achieving the A* grade.
