Elizabethan
Q. Favourite character in History?
A.
Lady Jane Dormer. Playmate of Edward VI and Elizabeth I. Lady-in-waiting to Mary Tudor. Fell in love with and married the Spanish Ambassador - Count Feria. Left with him when Elizabeth became Queen. Actively supported English Catholics first from the Spanish Netherlands and then from Spain. Elizabeth once wrote to her complaining that she had not been in touch!
Q. When and why did you first fall in love with History?
A.
When I was very young we always went back to Wales for the long summer holiday. My grandparents lived in Caerphilly which has a wonderful castle. It was the visiting of that which sparked my interest and imagination about the "olden days".

Q. Favourite story from History?
A.
Elizabeth's final letter from Robert Dudley. She kept it in a casket by her bed for the rest of her life.
Q. What tips would you give budding historians?
A.
Never stop questioning. Visit buildings/sites associated with your interests. Read biographies. Keep your eyes open!

I was in retail management before teaching - but probably a singer!
