Girls have been coached by the English Department (first Mrs Winch-Johnson and currently Mrs Campbell) in public speaking at Farnborough Hill since 2000.
Since then, the school has gone from strength to strength in three major competitions run by The Rotary, The Catenians and The English Speaking Union. Farnborough Hill girls have been constant winners of local heats for both the Rotary and ESU. competitions, and on many occasions have gone on to scoop Best Chairman, Speaker or Vote of Thanks, or Questioner awards. We have also attained the dizzy heights of Regional and District champions and scaled entry to semi-national level. We are very proud of the tradition that the school has established. 2015 was marked by an especially pleasing result in the ESU Churchill National Public Speaking Competition for Schools competition when our senior team (pictured above with coach Mrs Campbell) won Best Speaker as well as becoming the NATIONAL WINNERS in the final competition.
